THE HIGHLIGHTS
The scene of Japanese traditional martial arts is overwhelming.
I used three set cameras to shoot those scenes from different angles.
The 70% of the screen time is a historical play, while 30 % is a contemporary documentary.
The romance of Aika Kamimura in the documentary part is one of the highlights.
Especially her look in the scene she e-mails is so attractive.

COMMENT OF “BUSHIDO”
This piece of work is a documentary film of Aika Kamimura who tried out for the audition of the world wide famous Hollywood movie "the Last Samurai”, and also this is a Japanese story of the samurai period for the people in the US and Hollywood.
At the time of 2002, the title and the background were all in secret.
All the information given to the actors taking the audition were that Hollywood was going to invest in making a film of Japanese Samurai period.
The first-stage audition was to check the actors' skill on some types of visuals.
I wanted to show Japanese performance of traditional martial arts and the spirit for American staff clearly to understand by using Japanese traditional apparatus, kimonos and wigs. And all the scenes come with English subtitles.
As the result of "BUSHIDO”, the film that I shot, an actor was chosen as one of the casts of “the Last Samurai”.
ABOUT THE TITLE “BUSHIDO”
This piece of work is not made to disseminate the ideology
of the bushido.
I was shooting this film only for the audition of the
Last Samurai, so I named it temporarily "BUSHIDO”which
is one of the most well known Japanese historical words.
I was not planning to release this "BUSHIDO”at
first.
However, "BUSHIDO”was
well received by many quarters in the independent movie
field and there were loud requests to show it to the public.
To respond those calls, I shot some other scenes and added
some takes to the original one and produced a new version.
That is the "BUSHIDO”I
am presenting here.
